Woohoo!

I got my new MacBook Pro a couple of days ago, and it’s been GLORIOUS. I haven’t received my copy of Leopard for it yet, but it’s on the way. And I also have a copy of XP coming via a friend who used to work for the Borg so I can feed the addiction from the comfort of my living room rather than hiding in my cave all the time now.

My experience so far? This thing is awesome. The screen is simply gorgeous, and this sucker’s faaaaast. Basic specs:

– 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
– 2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM – 2x1GB
– 160GB Serial ATA Drive@5400rpm
– SuperDrive 8X
– 15″ Glossy Widescreen Display
– BackLit Keyboard

A couple of other really cool notes: it’s based on the Intel Santa Rosa platform, so it has LED backlighting which is extremely power efficient and brilliant. It’s beautiful to look at, and I’ve always believed that the monitor was one of the most important parts of your computer, because it’s the part of it that you interface with directly.

Another cool little tidbit is the trackpad. The MacBook trackpad supports a cool scroll feature. With two fingers on the trackpad simultaneously, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus. And if you hold two fingers down and click the button, it acts as a ‘right click’. Some people might gripe about it not actually having two buttons, but I prefer this functionality. Just my personal preference, I suppose.

Anyway, very sweet machine. I love it.
