So on Monday I noticed a red patch on the knuckle of my big toe. And it was kinda painful. I figured it was a spider bite or something. As the week has gone on, it got more tender, and swollen. I finally broke down and went to the doctor’s today.

Looks like I have one of two things: either a bacterial infection resulting from a spider or insect bite, or metabolic arthritis (aka gout) which is causing my toe joint to become massively inflamed. They’re doing blood tests to decide, and treating both in the meantime.

So I’ve got two sets of horse pills: an antibiotic and a big, macho anti-inflammatory that’s supposed to rock my world. Key thing apparently: take it after eating, or else it will jack you up (that’s a paraphrase). Anyway, so kinda sucks to be me. I won’t be playing hockey this weekend. 🙁

Holloman bids farewell to F117

Holloman Air Force Base will say farewell Monday to the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, which the nation is retiring from its arsenal after 27 years.

The Air Force decided to accelerate the F-117s’ retirement to free funding to modernize the rest of the fleet. The Nighthawk is being replaced by the F-22 Raptor, which also has stealth technology.

Personally, I’m sad to see this one go. It’s one of the iconic images from Gulf War I, our Stealths making a mockery of the Iraqi defenses.

That said, I am a *huge* fan of the F-22. Any plane that can replace both the F-117 and the F-15 is OK in my book.

So Boy made up a new song, and we’ve been singing it for the last week. Sung to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle”:

Twinkle, twinkle there’s a dinosaur
How I wonder there’s a dinosaur
Up above the there’s a dinosaur
Like a diamond there’s a dinosaur
Twinkle, twinkle there’s a dinosaur
How I wonder there’s a dinosaur

Bravo, maestro. Bravo.

So we headed down to the in-laws’ for Easter weekend. Unbeknownst to us, it was gonna be freaking gorgeous:

So we headed to the beach. Boy played in the water with Mommy and Auntie Julie, while Squishy hung out in her new little bathing suit and hat ensemble.

Thought for the day: It really must suck being goth in places like San Diego. Who wants to wear black when it’s this nice outside all the time?
